
Katie Whiticar she/her
is a resident dancer with Adaptations Dance Theater (ADT) and has performed with the company since 2016. Katie received her B.A. Degree in Dance from California State University Long Beach as a scholarship recipient. She gained further training in intensives at the San Francisco Conservatory and at the Movement Invention Project in New York. Katie has performed with dance companies: Rebecca Lemme|Acts of Matter, Keith Johnson/Dancers, Kathleen Helm & Dancers, The Assembly, and Rosy Simas Danse. Since moving back to Maui from Los Angeles in 2018, Katie has had the pleasure of performing in pieces choreographed by Hallie Hunt, Nathaniel Hunt, FLOCK, Ali McKeon Pineo and others. She has directed multiple ADT programs such as Masterclass Series, Morning Buzz, 2020 Winter Workshop, and 2021 Summer intensive. In addition, Katie has performed in Dance Maui, SEED Residency, Live @ the MACC, Small Town Big Art, Maui Art Corp projects, ARTMixx, and RARE residency at the MACC.

Choreographically, Katie produced 0.0 Series, an immersive pop-up event series in Long Beach, CA, co-choreographed Henosis, a piece set on ADT for ArT=Mixx Maui, and created Echo, a short dance film for the first SEED residency. This year, Katie will be diving into new movement research as ADT’s 2024 SEED choreographer.
